IMPACT

EJRP helps individuals develop the skills needed to ensure they are ready for today's job market. Open Door Ministries offers a variety of employment training courses which include Skills for Employment, Money Smart, and Computer (PC) Skills for Today's Worker. Each class lasts three weeks and meets from 12:30-2:30pm Monday - Thursday. GED classes are available from 9:30 - 11:30am, Monday - Thursday. Career Readiness Certificate is offered on Fridays from 9:30-2:30pm. All of the classes meet at Open Door Ministries (400 N. Centennial, High Point). GTCC provides the instructors and all instructional materials.

 

Students who complete all aspects of the Education and Job Readiness Program are linked with a mentor who helps to identify potential employment opportunities. This program has been a launching point for many including one resident of the Open Door Ministries Men's Shelter who recently announced at his class graduation that he has secured a job. This program not only teaches how to prepare a resume and interview skills but provides encouragement to seek opportunities with confidence.
