Arthur Cassell Memorial Transitional House program at Open Door Ministries is a transitional living facility for fourteen homeless men who have a desire to live independently in the High Point community. The program which implements the Disease Model of Addiction to assist residents affect change. This is a Cognitive – Behavioral – Spiritual approach helps residents through the stages of transition from being homeless and jobless to obtaining employment and permanent housing and a sense of general well being.

The program has been in operation since June 2000 as a result of a donation from Arthur Cassell.

IMPACT

The Arthur Cassell transitional house program targets the homeless men in the High Point area. Upon completion of treatment in an individual's ability to attain a minimum of 30 days of abstinence from alcohol and drugs he is able to apply for residency at the Arthur Cassell Transitional House.

The primary target of the Arthur Cassell Transitional House is homeless men and veterans in the High Point area.

OUR IMMEDIATE NEEDS

We have many needs to serve this population. We rely on our community’s ability to donate the necessary items such as beds mattresses, dressers, lawn equipment. We are in dire need of a large storage building to be built on our property so we can repair the items that are donated and provide an appropriate place for equipment be stored.

STAFF & CONTACT

Arthur Cassell Transitional House is one of the programs under Open Door Ministries. The staff at Arthur Cassell House each work with our residents to encourage positive change. Each of our staff members has personal experience with addiction and recovery in addition to the necessary education and certification from the state of North Carolina. We also work with students from GTCC who gain first hand knowledge in the field of rehabilitation as they complete internships at Arthur Cassell Transitional House.
